Apolline Project
COMPLETE RENOVATION IN BELLEVILLE
Apolline, a young working professional in Paris, wanted to purchase her first apartment in the heights of Belleville. She chose a 34m² apartment requiring complete renovation with a layout that needed rethinking.
Indeed, this one-bedroom apartment featured a long dark hallway as well as a cramped kitchen and bathroom. The objective was to create an open and bright space with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
The bathroom and kitchen were completely redesigned to maximize natural light and the living room surface area.
After 2 months of work, the client now benefits from:
- a compact bathroom (3m²), functional (toilet, shower, sink, storage), and bright (preserving a large window).
- a kitchen open to the living room to maximize light, space, and conviviality.
- a dark hallway that disappears in favor of the kitchen space (housing the refrigerator, washing machine, and storage, concealed in highly decorative blue cabinets).
- an entrance much brighter than initially thanks to an opaque glass door in the bathroom.
In terms of aesthetics, a cozy and welcoming atmosphere emerges, with a bright and bold blue as the common thread:
A color-block kitchen in the middle of the living room thanks to its total deep blue look (cabinetry and countertop). The shelves that delicately embrace the walls bring lightness (versus upper cabinets), and blend kitchen uses: utensils and glasses are found there, but also a library area and decorative objects dear to the client. The objective is to blend the kitchen into the living room, like a decorative element, blurring the boundaries between spaces and the functions of the living area.
In the bathroom, the kitchen’s design codes are adapted to the space to create coherence in the overall atmosphere (blue for the wall tiles, a touch of black in the fixtures as in the kitchen, and a wooden vanity top like the shelves).
