TOTAL RENOVATION OF A FAMILY APARTMENT IN MONTMARTRE

Immerse yourself in the world of Arthur, Marion, and their two daughters, Lily and Emma! A 70m² Parisian cocoon nestled in the heart of Montmartre, where period elegance meets contemporary comfort. A space thoughtfully designed in every detail to combine functionality, aesthetics, and a gentle way of life.

From the entrance, the tone is set with a deep green custom-made unit, featuring a bench cleverly equipped with storage, a full-height wardrobe, and a glass-partition-style mirror. A subtle interplay of curves between the wall angle and the bench naturally and gently guides the eye and movement toward the sleeping area and the restroom.

In the living area, the objective was clear: to preserve the period charm while reinventing it. Chevron parquet flooring, delicate moldings, and a marble fireplace were enhanced, while a custom-made bookcase structures the space and adds a graphic touch. A natural oak sliding door, also custom-designed, allows the living room to be partitioned from the office/guest bedroom. When open, it extends the space and lets light flow through; when closed, it offers a quiet and welcoming retreat, perfect for remote work or hosting family and friends.

The living and dining rooms also open onto a warm and functional U-shaped kitchen, organized around a raw wooden beam—exposed during the demolition work. This authentic feature interacts with the olive green fronts featuring elegant moldings, the wooden countertop, and the zellige tile backsplash, bringing a distinct artisanal touch. Above, bright white units contrast with gold brass finishes for a resolutely contemporary feel.

The bathroom, tucked away in the entrance, presented a significant challenge due to its limited 3m² surface area. The original bathtub was kept to meet the needs of the family with two young children, while soft and timeless beige zellige tiles adorn the walls. The vanity area was completely redesigned, now featuring a walnut unit topped with a backlit arched mirror, in harmony with the gold brass fixtures. For practicality, a full-height unit elegantly conceals a complete laundry area without encroaching on the space. Finally, the restroom located near the bedrooms echoes the design of the bathroom and is enhanced by a laminate oak cupboard, perfect for everyday storage.

The master bedroom opens charmingly around an old fireplace, carefully preserved, which now serves as a console. An L-shaped walk-in closet, made of dark wood, discreetly follows the walls, offering generous storage without weighing down the space. The baby’s crib was temporarily placed there before moving to the older daughter’s room—a true cocoon of softness, decorated in delicate pink with floral wallpaper. Here too, the focus was on warmth and functionality: a large wardrobe and multiple storage units accommodate clothes and toys in a space that is welcoming, structured, and filled with tenderness.
