RAISING A TOWNHOUSE

Pierre and Marie bought their house in Issy-les-Moulineaux on St Germain Island, with the goal of raising the roof to create the third bedroom this house lacked: their master suite.

The steeply pitched roof therefore needed to be modified to make the attic comfortable and bright. The height of this room increased from 1.80 to 3.20 meters for 30m2 of floor space, a very beautiful volume to exploit.

The final objective was to create a master suite with a bedroom area, a dressing room, and a bathroom with a toilet. Pierre and Marie desired a soft and light ambiance in their new space.

One of the technical constraints was the chimney flue passing to the right of the headboard. The headboard therefore had to be designed asymmetrically with the lighting fixtures reinforcing this effect: a table lamp on the left and a pendant light fixed to the ceiling for the right bedside.

Thanks to this elevation, a second bathroom was added to the house. It contains all the necessary functions to avoid going down to the lower floors: a bath-shower, a large vanity, storage, and a third toilet, essential for this family home.

The dressing area welcomes the couple as soon as they enter their bedroom. Completely custom-made to fit the roof slopes, it includes wardrobes, shelves, conceals the electrical meter, and allows for decorative objects or beautiful books to bring life to this space.

Thanks to this elevation, Pierre and Marie now fully utilize the 30m2 of attic space, with their spacious, bright, and functional master suite.

The stages of this project: project design, validation of the preliminary declaration of works at the town hall, material selection, and commencement of works.
