Project Joyce
OPTIMIZATION AND CUSTOMIZATION OF A FAMILY APARTMENT
Jacques and Jocelyne decided to move to the Parisian suburbs to enjoy their retirement, getting closer to their children and grandchildren.
Despite falling in love with a 90 m² apartment in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, which offered them an unobstructed view and tranquility, the sloped-ceiling rooms did not allow them to reuse their old furniture: they were losing a lot of storage space! Furthermore, they wanted to modernize the ambiance of the place by adding brightness and touches of color.
The agency therefore assisted this lovely retired couple in taking possession of the premises, optimizing the various sloped-ceiling spaces to gain functionality while bringing modernity and character to the project.
- The entrance became functional and welcoming: a bench for putting on shoes and storing them, a console, and decorative shelves to organize and display everyday objects. Rounded lines and soft colors were chosen to ensure fluid circulation and a warm atmosphere from the moment they stepped into the apartment.
- In the living room, a large TV unit was added, optimizing the entire sloped area, which was previously completely wasted space. Now, numerous storage compartments allow for organizing dinnerware. A large TV surface and a few shelves keep the overall look modern and airy. Soft colors and lines remain key to maintaining coherence throughout the living area.
- A long linear bookshelf connects the kitchen to the living room, combining closed storage units in the lower part with suspended shelves for displaying beautiful books.
- In the sleeping area, materials and colors were carefully selected to create harmony between the bedroom and the bathroom, all in a very soft and light atmosphere. A panoramic wallpaper adds perspective and a decor conducive to relaxation. The blue of the wallpaper serves as a common thread for the rest of the room and guides the choice of bathroom tiles. A new dressing room and sloped-ceiling storage units were designed to optimize the bedroom’s volume.
- The bathroom, initially equipped with a bathtub, was transformed into a shower room with a walk-in shower. It includes a double vanity and custom storage furniture (cupboard, open shelves, grooves to conceal the unsightly VMC).
